#2541 all in a day's petulance...

I woke up and very purposefully poured two cups worth of cold water into the coffee maker. Moments later, after inserting a brown paper filter, I spooned three cups worth of ground coffee into the filter basket.

It wasn't until about five minutes later just before I poured that first cup of coffee that I realized my mistake. It was then that I recognized it was going to be that kind of day...

As I drove into work, I couldn't help but notice the stunning brilliance of the trees. It was early - Tuesday is staff meeting day - and I realized that I hadn't needed to go anywhere to find the perfect fall leaf. There were a million gazillion of them all along my four mile commute.

I finally finished the CD I had realized I could actually make. Using mostly mp3s from bands most people have never heard of, unless of course you read this diary, I put together a collection from the Edinboro Arts and Music Festival AND Great Blue Heron. Donna the Buffalo, of course, Tiger Maple String Band, Rachel Eddy, Big Leg Emma, Horse Flies, Alison Pipitone, Entrain, Rusted Root, and Avett Brothers. I love it! I'm not sure than anyone else would - CD's I burn and give away have gotten an underwhelming response, if any response at all - but, that's ok. This one's for me.

Ah, yes. My achilles tendon. Been giving me problems, albeit minor ones, for the last couple years. Up until recently. About a month ago, I aggravated some tendonitis bad enough to stop me from running. Ice packs three times a day. After a week, I tried to run again and it flared up right from the start. Ran four miles anyway, then limped around for the next two days. Rested it ten days with ice twice a day and tried it again today on an easy three mile run. Lasted 2.25 miles before it started aching. Yeah. More rest, more ice. Switching to biking and hiking for a while.

I watched the movie A Good Year again for about the sixth or seventh time. I know that if I ever want to start a monumental clusterfuck in the neverending conflict between heart and brain, this is the movie that will do it. So, maybe I WILL end up with a woman named Fannie whilst owning a French vineyard somewhere down the road, and if I do, I'm going to give credit to this movie. If you've never seen it, check it out and you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.

Yes, it has been a very, very, good day...
